The
hip joint is a typical ball-and-socket joint. There is a relation
between the hip joint and pelvic girdle.
Common causes are:
- Trauma - fractures, dislocations
- Bursitis
- Synovitis
- Buttocks pain (may be referred from Back pain)
- Avascular Necrosis (less blood supply)
- Stress fracture.
- Arthritis
After proper Evaluation and Diagnosis Physiotherapy
is started.
You may get:
Pain around hip area or thigh, difficulty
in walking (limp in some cases), cross sitting, tired feeling
in legs.
Aims of Physiotherapy:
- To relieve Pain and Stiffness to improve Mobility and Strength
- Walking pattern-Gait Training
Treatment: must be started Early.
Physiotherapy includes short-wave diathermy,
long-wave therapy, ultrasonic, TENS, LASER therapy, medium frequency
currents.
Exercises play very important role in rehabilitation of fracture
cases. Tailor made exercises should be given for mobility and
strengthening of the joint and muscles.
Manual Therapy:
Manipulation and mobilization is beneficial
for pain relief and improve mobility of the hip joint. |
